CRPF looking for new defence sector solutions, selects 16 startups to display the tech

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) shortlisted 16 startups for a demo day to solve various core challenges. This move by the CRPF is taking place in collaboration with Startup India. This is the part of the Startup India CRPF Grand Challenge that was announced a couple of months ago, where they were looking for new concepts and innovations in the areas identified.

The areas where innovations are waiting for are shoes against spikes, controlling blood loss, and practical usage of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The objective of the program is to understand the issue that is becoming a roadblock in the growth of the security sector of the country. This would help young and talented innovators to pursue their dreams at the frontier of technology.

The functioning of the CRPF Program

The 16 startups that are shortlisted are divided into three categories depending on the challenge they were addressing. These categories are classified as:

  • Startups providing effective utilization of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS)/UAVs against insurgents
  • Startups that develop lightweight, sterile hemostatic agents, drugs, equipment, and badges to control bleeding loss
  • Startups developing terrain agostic shoes to protect from hidden iron/bamboo made spikes

Some of the startups that have been shortlisted during the program are – LUMBOBEE, Visionbot.io, Innovative Software Solutions, Sagar Defence Engineering, Eklavya Aero Sports, and others. The startups are from different locations of the country and have specialization in areas such as drones, cybersecurity, IoT, etc.
