Lucifer is one of the most famous American fantasy television series. This show was directed and written by Tom Kapinos. Lucifer Season 1 premiered in 2016. Throughout the years, five seasons released, Lucifer Season 6 is expected to release soon.

Lucifer, based on the popular DC Comics character from the comic book series ‘The Sandman(1)’; as mentioned in the name, the series revolves around the protagonist, Lucifer Morningstar, the devil who runs his own Night Club named ‘LUX’ in Los Angeles. This TV show is available on the popular streaming platform, Netflix.

In the first half of the serial, we saw that Lucifer voluntarily goes back to Hell to stop demons from escaping. Season 5 was filled with charming devils and demons. Season 5 shows that Lucifer comes back from Hell and starts butting heads with others while maintaining his new relationship with Chloe.

The last episode of Lucifer’s fifth season left in a cliffhanger. The previous episode’s final moments showed that God appears from above through a bright, hazy, and shiny light. After this, he glances around and mentions, “Children, I hate it when you fight’.

As we know, initially, the sixth season was never going to happen. The show had announced that the fifth is going to be the last season of Lucifer. But, in June, the cast revealed that the sixth season of Lucifer is confirmed.

This was because Lucifer’s fans started signing a petition that stated that the show shouldn’t be ended. This petition secured over 100K signatures. Hence, the directors got notified and decided to extend and make Lucifer Season 6 the final one.

Now, coming to the release date of season six, it’s a long way. This is because the second half of the fifth season of Lucifer is yet to be released. The release date of season six will be announced after season five ultimately ends. The second half of season five is rumored to release somewhere in the middle of 2021. The filming for the second half was planned to start in October 2020. But, this might be postponed due to the ongoing pandemic. But, it is possible that the rest of the season five and season six might be filmed back-to-back.

According to a prediction, the fans should not expect Lucifer season 6 until late 2021.

As mentioned above, the writers of Lucifer initially turned down the idea of season six. They said that they had already plotted out the series finale. But, they took back this decision later on and announced season six in June 2020.

Extra episodes of Lucifer have them a chance to dive deeper into the show. This might explore how the characters end up and where they end up. But, when asked if there’s going to be the seventh season, the writers denied it and announced that the sixth season would be the final one.

“it’s the same story we were always going to tell but elaborated and written on a much larger scale. This lets us explore the mythologies of Lucifer in great detail,” explained Henderson, one of the writers of the show.

According to the writers, Lucifer Season 6 is also going to highlight real-world social issues too.

Modrovich revealed that Lucifer’s whole cast and team are very passionate about filming the second half of season five and the last season.
