The Telangana Civil Supplies department ordered 9 crore new jute bags worth Rs 450 crore from the National Jute Board (NJB) Kolkata. They have already received nearly 4.5 crore jute bags for the procurement of paddy in this Kharif season.
An officer said that they could go with the procurement until the last week of November.
Each jute bag will get a unique QR Code using the blockchain technology. The procedure, however, has not been started yet. An official opined that Blockchain technology is still only on paper.
