The Journey Before SpaceBasic Madhavi Shankar did her early schooling at English High School, Dubai, she then moved back to India to pursue her Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from CMR Institute of Technology, Bangalore. With her keen interest in studies, Madhavi further completed two Master's Degree, Master of Business Administration from and Master's Degree in Engineering Management (MS) from the University of Technology, Sydney Australia. Madhavi received Honorary Doctorate Degree in Information Technology from Mother Teresa Virtual University, J&B Harvard USA. What is the Startup About? The company helps address critical problems like safety checks, digital data management, providing an open and improved communication channel between all stakeholders. Idea and Inspiration behind Spacebasic During a trip to the US, Madhavi got introduced to a successful woman entrepreneur of Indian origin, who turned out to be her Co-founder. With a collective mindset regarding India, Madhavi wanted to contribute to the social, economic Growth in the education sector in India. Madhavi recognized the unstructured operational pattern among students housing communities within schools, and colleges which followed an archaic manual process to carry out day to day tasks. Madhavi wanted to limit the labor-intensive manual processes which were plagued with problems to ensure the safety and security of students. Madhavi believed adopting technology in work would create a lot of hassle-free opportunities, which made her launch SpaceBasic. Hurdles in the Journey and hitting the first Milestone Despite being from a well off family, Madhavi decided to quit her well-paying job and comfortable life in Sydney, Nonetheless Madhavi followed her heart back to Bangalore to figure out a new phase of her life and started SpaceBasic. The company's first Milestone was working with its first three pilot customs (Garden City University, PES University, and Cambridge Institute of Technology) to understand their pain points and build a solution for them turned out to be a pivoting point for the company. Vision and Growth of the company In a period, the company flourished well with 700% y-o-y growth; the company currently serves two hundred thousand users across 70 universities and student housing. The company aims to grow 700% y-o-y, providing a digital and secure living to the student housing community globally. The company also aims to provide corporate connect feature to institutions and aims to engage with more corporates, including Fortune 500 companies.
