Deep-rooted patriarchy and crimes related to women from their birth to death have sadly been a part of the Indian society for ages and still sucks the life out of our systems even today. The abandonment of female babies and children has been a harsh reality we have dealt with. Ages ago, a baby girl was found abandoned near a roadside garbage pit in West Bengal. When Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty became aware of her difficulty, he decided to rescue and adopt her.

Dishani, Mithun’s daughter, was noticed by a few passersby and was rescued by an NGO and some government officials. Reportedly, when seen, she was in a fragile condition and was crying continuously. Mithun, popularly known as Mithun Da, came across the news and immediately rushed to the house where she was kept after being rescued.

Yogita Bali, Mithun’s wife, supported him in his noble decision. Yogita was so excited to meet and hold the baby girl that she stayed up all night to submit all the paperwork. After being brought home, she was named Dishani and has been nurtured with all the love and care.
