Countries like Taiwan, New Zealand, Germany, and many more did not see an exponential rise in the number of cases. One might ask, ‘what did the country do in particular and what was the difference?’, the answer to that is all of these countries had a women leader. This demonstrates the real leadership qualities exhibited by them. Women are taking responsibility to fix this disaster, while most of the leaders failed to. Countries like Finland and Iceland have also contained the spread of this pandemic. The counter-argument for this might state that all of the countries mentioned above are small. But, Germany is not at all little and also has a considerable population.

The United Kingdom suffered consequences due to COVID-19, even though it has a woman leader. This might be because the UK features various religions, cultures, and ethnicities. Many people living there are from a lot of countries. The actions taken by these women must be considered as an inspiration for the other leaders, as this is very important during these disastrous times. Let’s see how these countries maintained peace and prevented further spread individually.

Germany:

The chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel (1), was one of the people responsible for curbing the spread of the virus. During an interview, Angela Merkel calmly stood up and told her countrymen that this is a dangerous virus and can infect up to seventy percent of the population. She ended this by warning the civilians to take it seriously. The testing process began right off the bat, and the testing kits were imported immediately. Germany skipped the denial phase and started countering Coronavirus quickly. This gave them a jump start in preventing the spread, and Germany has a small number of cases when compared to its neighboring countries.

Taiwan:

The leader of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-Wen (2), took immediate measures when the pandemic was initially detected in January. She installed and implemented 128 new rules to handle the spread of Coronavirus. Even without imposing lockdown, she managed to curb the spread. Taiwan is currently planning to send approximately 10 million face masks to the US and Europe. The way Taiwan managed the range of Coronavirus impressed the whole world. Till now, only six deaths reported from Taiwan.

New Zealand:

Jacinda Ardern

Jacinda Ardern (3), an important figure in New Zealand, estimated that the country would face risk in the future if strict measures not taken. Hence, she took action and implemented a lockdown way before the other countries. The whole country was on maximum alert, and quarantine was taken strictly. She imposed self-quarantine to all the people entering New Zealand around one month back before the other countries. When there were only 6 cases, Jacinda banned foreigners entirely from entering New Zealand, and even the civil services were forbidden. This proved to be extremely useful as the country has reported only four deaths due to COVID-19 till now. Thinking on the feet and the will to take action saved New Zealand from a disaster.

Iceland:

The prime minister of Iceland, Katrin Jakobsdottir (4), announced that testing of Coronavirus is free of cost to all of its citizens. While most of the counties have implemented limited testing, Iceland is going all out, testing people who show even the slightest of the symptoms. According to research, Iceland has screened approximately five times the population of South Korea. The tracking system in Iceland is impeccable, and the country has not seen the need to implement a lockdown. Schools and colleges here are functioning normally.

We can see that these women were partly responsible for the handling of Coronavirus. The rest of the countries should start following these countries and implement similar measures to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. If this happens, COVID-19 will be eradicated from the face of earth very soon.
