The number of COVID-19 cases is rapidly rising in India. The numbers have crossed the 31,000 mark, and more than 1000 people have died so far. Several states are striving hard to minimize the damage. While the other states are still struggling, five North Eastern states are already COVID-free.
The five states which have been declared Corona free by the government are Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, and Tripura.
These states have not registered any new case in the last 24 hours, whereas all the infected people are cured and discharged.
Union Minister Jitender Singh tweeted this on Monday. His tweet read:
“#Northeast Video Conference meeting: 5 out of 8 States #Corona free while other three have not added any new Corona positive case in the last few days.CMs, State Govts, Northeast Ministry/DoNER, North Eastern Council deserve appreciation for perfect coordination to make this possible.”
He further added that the remaining three states Assam, Meghalaya, and Mizoram, are yet to be free from the virus. As of now, Assam has eight Covid-19 cases; Meghalaya has 11, and Mizoram has only one case.
Another positive news is that no new cases were witnessed in these three states in the last 24 hours.
He appreciated the efforts of the State governments of all these states for working hard and collaborating with the Centre during these difficult times. He also said:
“The governments in all eight Northeastern states have worked hard and collaborated with the Centre during this Crisis. The North-East Development Council, which is headquartered in Shillong, has done an excellent job of coordination during this period.”
The situation of COVID-19 is becoming critical with each passing day. There are rumors that the lockdown might be extended in some states after May 3. In all this mess, the Northeastern states are winning hearts with their incredible performance.
