Howdy Event: One of the most significant events held at Houston

This event also gets symbolized as the run-up event for the Presidential elections arriving at the U.S. in 2020. This event took place on 22nd of September 2019 on a pleasant Sunday at the NSG Stadium in Houston.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by thunderous applause to the event when he arrived at the vastly crowded stadium. He came at the event to address the Indian-American community and was accompanied by his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.

This significant event witnessed leaders of two of the largest nations in the world. It was the first time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump shared a stage before such a large gathering which consisted of over 50,000 Indian-Americans.

This event witnessed the first time when such a high number of the audience got gathered for a foreign leader visiting the U.S. This mega event was organized by the non-profit Texas India Forum, and the event enclosed a tagline namely ‘Shared Dreams, Bright Futures.’

The primary purpose of this event was to shine a light on the tremendous contribution of Indo-Americans in the United States. It was also to highlight the strong bonding and lasting partnership between India and the U.S.

There were numerous cultural programs performed in the event by eminent Indian-American artists. These cultural programs got held before the enthralling address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

1.1 The event started by PM Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump taking a lap around the large gathering at the NSG stadium.

1.2 The U.S. President got received by External Affairs Minister of India Mr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

2. Highlights of the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi:

2.1 Prime Minister Modi addressed the gathering, stating that he met prominent CEOs of the energy sector the day before the event. He said that all those CEOs were excited by India’s decision to slash corporate tax.

He continued further telling that they have given him feedback that this decision of the Indian Government will not only send a positive message for business leaders in India but also globally. This attribute will help India to become more competitive globally.

2.2 PM Modi further continued by telling that his U.S. counterpart President Trump has referred to him as ‘tough negotiator.’ But he sarcastically replied saying that Trump himself is a master of the ‘art of the deal’ and he has learned a lot from him

2.3 PM Modi also spoke on topics such as terrorism and asked the citizens present in the gathering that are the conspirators found for the 9/11 United States or 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks. He stated that time has come to fight a battle against terrorism and also said that those who support terrorism would not get spared.

2.4 His speech also included some of the national topics such as the abolition of Article 370. He stated that some people in his country have a problem with the cancellation and compared these people with the people who cannot govern their own country rightly.

He opined that these people are the same people who are shielding terrorism in their country and are nurturing it. He addressed the audience telling that the whole world knows who they are.

2.5 He stated that Article 370 had deprived the fundamental rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and the development of these areas was also lagging because of the Article.

Because of this feature, the terror and separatist elements were misusing the situation and were torturing the people daily. Now everything is settled in the valley as people have obtained equal rights among them.

2.6 His speech also included how India and America are striving to make a transparent ecosystem for the sake of ensuring development, reaching to even the last man present in the queue. He also spoke on other topics such as Digital India, abolishing complicated tax structures, and the ease of doing business in our country.

2.7 He also opined that today his country is challenging the mindset of certain people who believed that nothing could change. Today India has entered a new dimension and is aiming high as well as achieving higher.

2.8 Finally, he concluded his speech by thanking all the audience seated over there and explaining the atmosphere at the event as unprecedented & extraordinary.

He also honored the brave American soldiers and even the Indian military service members who worked continuously to safeguard our freedom.

3. The highlights of the speech of U.S. President Donald Trump:

3.1 After PM Modi’s address, it was the time for Donald Trump to address the gathering. He stated that he honors his soldiers and the soldiers in India for safeguarding the citizens of the country.

He opined that both India and America are bound to protect innocent citizens from the threat of growing Islamic terrorism.

3.2 He stated that Border security is vitally important for both the U.S. and India and also opined that the relationship between India and the U.S. has become stronger than before. He also affirmed that both the countries are committed to developing the democratic nations to the fullest.

3.3 Trump stated that today, nearly 300 million in India are lifted out of poverty thanks to the pro-growth policies of the Modi Government. He noted this number as incredible and applauded Prime Minister Modi for experiencing such growth.

3.4 Finally, Trump concluded his speech by wishing Prime Minister Modi a belated ‘Happy Birthday,’ who turned 69 just a week before. He called Modi as the most excellent and most loyal friend of America and applauded his Government for doing such beautiful deeds.

4. The final touch provided by the leaders:

4.1 Finally Modi took on to the stage again to wish his friend best of luck for his upcoming U.S. presidential elections in 2020. He coined the term ‘Ab Ki Baar, Trump Sarkar’ similar to the term used by his national party for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

4.2 Both the leaders pressed on the fact that the bond between the two nations has strengthened further and has reached a new depth.

4.3 Finally, the two leaders embraced each other and took another lap to greet the enormous audience present at the gathering.

4.4 The House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer stated that the people of America are getting inspired by the way Modern India is progressing. He also opined that the Indian Government is undeterred and is facing all types of challenges brave heartedly.

He finally concluded that India today is reaching new heights in fields such as communication, development, and space and is equally determined to lift out poverty from the country.
