Her earnings in the year 2017 were almost equal to 10.5 million U.S dollars because of which she got placed in the 10th rank on the Forbes list of highest-paid YouTube stars globally. She is the only celebrity to feature in the annual YouTube Rewind video every year since 2014.

In the entertainment category, she earned first place in the Forbes Top Influencers list for the year 2017. She was also one of the 40 most influential people in the field of comedy in 2019. She has won numerous awards and accolades. Some of them include a People’s Choice Award, Two Teen Choices Awards, four Streamy Awards and has also received an MTV Fandom Award.

Do you guys know that Lilly Singh is an Indian? Yes, she is. Though she was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, her parents are initially from Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. She got raised as a Sikh, but as she was born in Canada, she got bestowed with the Canadian Nationality.

Singh always states that as a child she was more of a tomboy. She did her schooling from the Mary Shadd Public School and graduated from the Lester B.Pearson Collegiate Institute at Toronto in 2006. She participated in many youth programs of Girl Guides Canada and was also an eminent member of them.

She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, and she graduated with the degree from the York University at Toronto in 2010. She started developing a secure connection with her Punjabi heritage with her frequent visits to India.

Singh started her second channel on Youtube, by the name ‘Superwoman Vlogs.’ In this channel, she began filming her day-to-day activities which also included the behind the scenes footages of her videos. She began her career as a music artist in August 2013, when she featured with Jassi Sidhu in his Punjabi song Hipshaker. She also provided rapping for the song Mauj Ki Malharein, which featured in the Bollywood drama film Gulaab Gang in August 2014.

She released a song by the name #LEH in collaboration with her friend Kanwer Singh who himself is a rapper and an author. Kanwer Singh goes by the pseudonym ‘Humble the Poet,’ and this song got released on July 2014.

Another music video titled ‘The Clean Up Anthem’ was recorded and released by her in February 2015. For this video, she collaborated with the famous Canadian artist Sickick. She again worked with her friend Kanwer Singh and recorded another video titled #IVIVI. In this music video, she described her hometown, Toronto.

She released a visual music piece on YouTube channel titled ‘Voices,’ which included around five songs. This music piece got published on August 8, 2016, and all the songs portrayed the voices which were playing in her head from a long time. Singh was announced as a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, to advocate for children’s rights in 2017. She has also led a social campaign by the name ‘GirlLove,’ whose sole purpose was to promote girls in ending their girl-to-girl hate.

This social campaign has also helped thousands of girls to gain education all around the world.

She traveled to South Africa in July 2018, as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador to meet the students of elementary schools who were against anti-social elements such as bullying and classroom violence.
