Introduction
We all remember the time when Jiya Re from Jab Tak Hai Jaan won our hearts. The song brought a breeze of fresh air with it. The song did justice to the bubbly and strong character of Anushka Sharma. The voice behind it is also a strong and multi-talented woman, Neeti Mohan. A trained dancer, actor, and professional singer, she had various paths to follow, but she chose music as her sole purpose and turned out to be one of the most sought playback singers in Bollywood.
About Neeti Mohan
Neeti Mohan’s birthday is on 18 November 1979. She was born in Delhi to Brij Mohan Sharma and Kusum Sharma. Neeti Mohan age is 40. She is the eldest of the four Mohan sisters. She has three sisters Shakti Mohan, Mukti Mohan, and Kriti Mohan. At a young age, Neeti started learning music at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She was always passionate about theatre, music, and dancing. She developed her interest in music and started pursuing it seriously.
Neeti was a part of her high school band and participated in the Republic day parade for five years. She represented India as Youth Exchange Programme cadet; she was honored with the best cadet title in NCC. She professionally learned music at the Bhatkhande Music Institute. She also trained in Bharatnatyam and Kathak under Ashley Lobo. Neeti holds a degree in Philosophy from Miranda House, University of Delhi. Neeti Mohan husband, Nihaar Pandya, tied the knot with her in February 2019. He is an actor by profession.
Neeti Mohan Career
Mohan started her career early, in 2003 she won the reality show popstars and got the chance to perform for Bryan Adams. She caught the attention of A.R Rahman’s tour manager, who insisted her to send a CD to Rahman. That is when she earned a place in his Tour team. Ashley Lobo recommended Neeti for a role in Imtiaz Ali’s Socha Na Tha. She was also a part of the winning team of the reality TV show Music Ka Maha Muqqabla.
She debuted in the music industry with Student of the year’s Ishq wala love song. She also sang the Jiya Re song of Jab Tak Hai Jaan. For her work in these songs, she won RB Burman Award for New Music Talent at the annual Filmfare awards. Besides that, she got nominated for the best playback singer female for Jiya re.
Neeti Mohan songs include Sadi Galli Aja with Ayushmann Khurrana, Kashmir Tu Main Kanyakumari for Chennai Express, Dil Kagzi from Gippi, Naina for Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, Nazar Laaye from Ranjhanaa, Tune Maari Entriyaan for Gunday, Catch Me If You Can, Dard Dilo Ke, Tu Hi Tu from Kick.
Her most significant break was six jazz songs she performed for Bombay Velvet. She performed Nazdeekiyan and Senti wali mental for Shaandaar. She got nominated for Best Playback singer female for Sau Aasmaan from Baar Baar Dekho. Apart from singing, she served as a mentor in the reality TV show The Voice India Kids. She was also the dubbed voice of Rapunzel in 2017’s Tangled.

Neeti Mohan has a raw voice best suited for Jazz songs, which was noted in her songs for Bombay Velvet. Her classical training has toned her voice to approach songs in different octaves. She has stated that she loves to sing melodies the most. Her singing style was highly influenced by Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, and Kishore Kumar. Early in her career, she got to work with A.R. Rahman and learned a lot from him. Imagine by John Lennon is her go-to inspirational song, whenever she feels low. She is also a fan of John Mayor.
Charity
Neeti Mohan Pandya is a philanthropist who has donated money for various causes continuously. She performed Hum Hain Umeed E Kashmir for the rehabilitation of Kashmir Flood sufferers. She also raised funds in Delhi for Assam flood victims. She also performed for the Smile Foundation for the empowerment of underprivileged children. She collaborated with the United Nations for a project aimed at empowering women and promoting equality. Her single release Unde De was selected for “Music To Inspire-Artists United against Human Trafficking. By the United Nations Voluntary Trust Fund.
