What are CSC and Digimail?

To understand Digimail, let us first know what is CSC? Common Service Centres or CSC is defined as the physical facilities for delivering the Government of India e-Services to the rural and remote locations where availability of computers and the Internet was earlier negligible or mostly absent. They are a multiple-services-single-point model for providing the facilities for multiple transactions at any single geographical location.

CSCs are predominant access points for the delivery of essential public utility services, social welfare, and healthcare schemes, financial, education, and agriculture services, apart from the host of B2C services to citizens in the rural and remote areas of the country. It is also a pan-India network catering to the regional, geographic, linguistic, and cultural diversity of the entire country, thus enabling the Government’s mandate of the socially, financially, and digitally inclusive society.

The main purpose of the centers is to provide the physical facility for delivery of e-Services of the Government of India to many rural and remote locations. The CSC project facilitates citizens to avail of several services such as PAN, AADHAAR, Passport, Income Tax, Crop insurance, and so on.
