States ask Modi to extend lockdown and give extra economic power to fight COVID-19

In the video conference with Prime Minister, the CM of Kerala, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Delhi, along with the governor of Jammu and Kashmir have asked the central government to extend the lockdown for peoples safety. Jagan Mohan Reddy, CM of Andhra Pradesh, has asked for partial lockdown.

PM Narendra Modi has asked all the governments to send in their opinions on the matter. He also said that he is available 24 hours for the suggestions.

He will make the final announcement after the hearing to the suggestions for all the states.

Odisha and Punjab have Already extended the lockdown

The state governments of Odisha and Punjab have already reached the lockdown till May. Schools and colleges are closed in Odisha till June 17. People believe that lifting the ban would allow more people to get the infection.

Extra resources to fight

States have also asked Modi to provide them with more resources so that they can fulfill the essential demands of their citizens. People have lost their jobs, have no monetary support, and are finding it difficult to make both ends meet. So Government has finalized to provide relief of all means to the countrymen, including the food, money and other necessary items.

Economists have already told that an immediate monetary fund of Rs9-10 trillions will be allotted for the damage control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

India and its citizens are facing a survival crisis hand all the efforts are executed to pull off this crisis. The authorities are taking all necessary measures to get things under their control and win the battle against Coronavirus.
